Live attenuated vaccine against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)
Freeze-dried vaccine, Nigeria 75/1 strain
The vaccine is prepared from a cell-culture-attenuated PPR virus, strain Nigeria 75/1. After reconstitution with 100 mL of diluent, each dose contains at least 102.5 TCID50 of PPR virus.
Domestic and wild sheep and goats.
Vaccination is recommended for animals aged four months or older. Ideally, vaccination should be carried out after the lambing season or before rams are introduced to the flock.
The vaccine is supplied in freeze-dried vials with a 100 mL diluent. Before reconstitution, the diluent should be brought to a temperature of 2–8°C. Transfer a small amount of diluent into the vaccine vial and gently mix until a uniform suspension is obtained.
Administer 1 mL per animal by subcutaneous injection in the neck, regardless of age. Use a sterile needle and syringe each time the vaccine is withdrawn.
No adverse reactions to the vaccine have been reported. In some cases, an increase in body temperature may occur.
Store the freeze-dried vaccine at a temperature below 8°C and the diluent at room temperature. After reconstitution, keep the vaccine protected from light and heat at 4–8°C and use it within 2 hours.
